When it comes to adult beverages, the sun is rising on moonshine.  Moonshine is trending hot right now according to NBC News.  The un-aged corn whiskey is being marketed largely toward cocktail enthusiasts and younger consumers who want to drink something authentic and classically old school.

Trisha Antonsen, editor-in-chief and chief cocktail officer at Drizly.com says, "Right now, more than ever, people are about a good story, and the modern moonshine market is capitalizing on that."

One chapter of that good story is being written right here in the Yakima Valley at Swede Hill Distributing.  Apples and cherries from local farmers in the Yakima Valley are the delicious raw materials for Swede Hill.  Swede Hill distillers say “Each bottle that we produce represents an extraordinary combination of passion, heritage and flavor. Our products are skillfully handcrafted, one bottle at a time without assembly lines or machines.”

That’s the kind of authenticity today’s moonshine seekers are looking for – a unique hand crafted product.

Right now moonshine is profitable and quick to produce, and since it doesn't have to age, it’s quicker to store shelves and the bar.  Some industry types say the harsh taste of traditional moonshines will channel them as niche market products but I suggest you see for yourself .  The current flavors are Apple Pie and Cherry and from personal experience they are fantastic!  You’ll find Swede Hill’s delicious approach using Yakima fruit just might send you over the moon!
