Yakima's Perry Technical Institute may be that much more attractive for people around the state now that ITT Technical Institutes in Spokane, Seattle and Everett are closing doors and stopping operations around the country. The closures are the result of an investigation by the U.S. Department of Education.  Last week the Associated Press reported the U.S. Department of Education banned the for-profit college chain from enrolling new students who use federal financial aid. The Associated Press says "the company was the subject of state and federal investigations focusing on its recruiting and accounting practices."

ITT operates on 130 campuses in 38 states. It's based in Carmel, Indiana.
