Yakima's community Christmas tree is expected to arrive in downtown Yakima on Monday, November 20 at 10:00 a.m. The 40-foot Spruce tree is being donated by a resident in Terrace Heights. It will be removed Monday morning and brought to downtown Yakima.
Sean Hawkins Yakima Economic Development director says "the tree installation is a partnership with Russell Crane, Gilbert Orchards, the City’s Public Works Department and the Downtown Association of Yakima. They all help in different ways.”
The official tree lighting ceremony will be Sunday, December 3rd, at the conclusion of Downtown Yakima’s annual Holiday Lighted Parade. The parade starts at 6:00 pm.
Volunteers with the Downtown Association of Yakima will be hanging lights on trees in the Plaza area prior to the parade and lighting ceremony.
