Yakima Valley Vintners, Yakima Valley Community College Vineyard and Winery Technology Program’s teaching winery will open its tasting room for Yakima Valley’s Spring Barrel Tasting.

The tasting room, located on the YVCC Grandview Campus, will be open on Friday, April 25 from 3:00 p.m.to 5:30 p.m. and on Saturday, April 26 and Sunday, April 27 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

The teaching winery on the Grandview Campus provides students the opportunity for hands-on learning about wine making and allows them to showcase their wines. Students will be pouring several varieties at the spring event, including Riesling, Chardonnay, Syrah, and Cabernet Sauvignon. There will also be barrel sampling of red wines. Students will provide tours of the facility and host educational stations, including a wine sensory station, and wine and food pairings. In addition, the student club will be selling cut barrels for planters just in time for spring plantings.

Yakima Valley Vintners has received numerous awards for their wines. In 2013, the 2011 Carmenere received a gold medal at the Tri-Cities Wine Festival, the 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon titled Dean’s List was a Platinum award winner, the 2010 Primitivo won gold at the Seattle Wine Competition and double gold at the Platinum event.

The tasting room is located at 114 Grandridge Road.
