Yakima Trolleys Gaining Support

More support for a trolley system running through downtown is being generated.

Our news partner KNDO says that on Tuesday, signatures were being collected from local businesses to gain support for the trolley system that is part of a proposal in the Downtown Yakima Master plan.

Karl Pasten from the Yakima Valley Trolleys was collecting the signatures, and said local businesses are in full support of the system.

"It's pretty interesting, there is a lot of support for this concept," Pasten said.

Earlier on Tuesday, Pasten had about 30 signatures all in favor of the system.

The purposed trolley system will run from 6th Avenue to the convention center.

It will allow people to travel around the downtown area easily and will give even more transportation options to people who live in Yakima and visitors.
