The City of Yakima's Christmas Tree has found its way to downtown and now it just waits to be lit up in the annual lighting ceremony.

The "Light Up the Plaza" event will take place on Friday, Dec. 5. There will be music, carriage rides and photos with Santa available.

Tim Snider kicks things off at 6:00 p.m. and will perform for about half an hour. The actual lighting ceremony will take place at 6:40 p.m. The night will be capped off by Mike and Matty playing at 6:50.

There will also free carriage rides through downtown from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Photos with Santa will be available at Ron's Coins and Book from 6:00 until 9:00.

Hot Chocolate will be available for purchase as well.

In 2013, the event was in sub-freezing temperatures which resulted in light attendance.
