The Yakima City Council has voted to join cities around the state and country to celebrate Indigenous People's Day this month and not Columbus Day which is set for October 10. The council Tuesday voted 5-2 Tuesday for the change on with council members Maureen Adkison and Bill Lover voting no. the vote was a result of a citizen request. Council members were first going to delay the vote to talk further but since October 10 is next week they decided to take a vote on Tuesday night.
