Yakima to Increase Police Patrols in Downtown Area Starting in June

With the revitalization of downtown and more people expected to enjoy the downtown area this spring and summer police patrols will start in mid June. Yakima Police Chief Dominic Rizzi says at any one time you will see four officers in the downtown area 7 days a week. Rizzi says “statistics show that the downtown area is safe.” The chief says the officers will be there to reassure people of their safety. Seven officers that are now working in the Yakima School District will switch to the patrol work in downtown when school is out for the summer.
