Fruit it was and fruit it is that built and sustains Yakima's ag economy.  In recognition of that, a $12,000 state grant will help the City explore establishing a National Historic District for “Fruit Row” on First Avenue.

"Fruit Row” dates back to the early 1900s and describes the ag-related facilities on First Avenue from Yakima Avenue up to D Street.

The money comes from the Washington State Department of Archaeology and Historical Preservation and would be used to develop an inventory of historical buildings  and their physical condition.
