The air quality in the Yakima Valley isn't good today.

Dave Caprile with the Yakima Clean Air Authority says a stage one burn ban is in effect because of all the smoke from fires in the state. That means no outdoor burning is allowed anywhere in the county.

Caprile says the problem is the lack of wind. He notes air quality in the upper valley is better then in the lower valley but that's not saying much since it's smokey all over the county.

Caprile suggests to those who are sensitive to the smoke that they should stay inside or limit activity outside.
