Yakima's still talking about Wednesday night's episode of the CBS TV drama "Criminal Minds" -- the fictional show about an elite FBI team took place in Yakima this week, and local viewers have lit up social media to marvel at the network's attention to detail.

Among other things:

  • The scenery around the setting looked realistic. Though the episode apparently wasn't filmed here, at least the producers had done enough research to know that a Northwest rain forest wouldn't be appropriate.
  • They mentioned Moxee -- and pronounced it correctly!
  • They pronounced Yakima correctly, too!
  • They also referenced Union Gap. (Which of course posed few pronunciation hurdles.)
  • An actress playing a Yakima police officer mentioned prostitution problems on North First Street.
  • Finally, the psycho bad guy in the program was captured in a cornfield outside Union Gap. And hey, come to think of it, there IS a corn maze down that way every year ...

"Criminal Minds," whose stars include Joe Mantegna, Thomas Gibson, Shemar Moore, Matthew Gray Gubler, A.J. Cook and Kristen Vangsness, premiered in 2005. It airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. on CBS.
