The Yakima School District honored top educators Today announcing the five winners of the Crystal Apple awards at a ceremony at district offices.  This year the winners are;

Brandon Hauver  a Science Teacher at Wilson Middle School. Brandon has been in Education for 11 years with 10 years at the Yakima School District.
Kathy Ortolf  a 2nd Grade Teacher at Nob Hill Elementary School. Kathy has been in Education for nearly 33 years with 12 years at the Yakima School District.
Leslie Morris a Special Education Teacher at Gilbert Elementary School. Leslie has been in Education for 9 years serving all 9 years at the Yakima School District.
Anne Broom a Special Education Teacher at Gilbert Elementary School. Anne has been in Education for 4 years serving all 4 years at the Yakima School District.
Matthew Emhoff a Language Arts/Social Studies Teacher at Lewis & Clark Middle School. Matthew has been in Education for 10.5 years serving all 10.5 years at the Yakima School District.

The recipients were awarded $1,000 and a crystal apple. A public ceremony to recognize all those who were nominated will be held Monday, May 2, at 4 p.m., at the Yakima Convention Center.
