The Yakima Rotary Club on Thursday announced it's raised $3.3 million to be donated to the YMCA Aquatic Center now to be named the Yakima Rotary Aquatics Center planned for Chesterley Park. The fundraising and donation was part of the upcoming 100th anniversary of the club which comes in 2019 when the center is expected to open.
The club has named the center as its Centennial Project.
The YMCA has reached 85% of the funding goal of $20 million. Fundraising continues Today. The YMCA and the city of Yakima are partners on the project. The city is contributing $4.5 million to the project and will fund pool operations to the tune of $300,000 annually.

Groundbreaking is set for this summer with a planned opening of the Yakima Rotary Aquatics Center planned for fall of 2019.
