Yakima Robbery Suspect Arrested After Chase And Crash

A robbery suspect is in custody this morning but not after fleeing in a stolen vehicle and crashing into a patrol cruiser on Saturday. Yakima Police say officers responded to the 1400 block of North 1st Street at the Road Runner Deli for a reported robbery in progress. Responding officers located the suspect in a stolen vehicle still at the scene. The suspect fled in the vehicle and attempted to elude pursuing officers through the city. Officers used a patrol vehicle to stop the pursuit in the 2100 block of S 1st street.
The suspect, identified as 33 year old Roberto Ontiveros. He was arrested at the scene after attempting to flee on foot. A YPD patrol vehicle was damaged during the incident. Minor injuries were reported to the suspect and an officer.
Ontiveros was booked into the Yakima County Jail on various felony charges. He's expected to make an appearance in court later this week.
