Car thieves continue to roam the streets in Yakima. Nearly 700 cars have been stolen since the beginning of the year within Yakima city limits. Just in the past week Yakima has averaged about two stolen cars a day. Yakima police say many of the vehicles are stolen, taken on joy rides and then abandoned. Many of the vehicles are found vandalized some are even found burned in local orchards.

This as National Insurance Crime Bureau ranked Yakima as the fifth-highest in the nation for car thefts.

Police say the thieves are targeting Toyota and Honda vehicles.
