Yakima Police hope to prevent another serious crash as a result of street racing. Two people were injured Sunday in a crash on South 72nd Avenue after the state patrol says the driver was racing another car. Police Lt. Mike Merryman says there's no specific areas where they plan to increase patrols to look for street racers since the races can happen at anytime, anywhere. Merryman says many of the so called street racers meet at area parking lots. The department is working with property owners to post the lots off limits. But Merryman says many of the drivers just move to another area to meet. Merryman admits it's a tough crime to stop. Two people, a 17-year-old and a 33-year-old were seriously injured in Sunday's crash on South 72nd Avenue. Both were taken to Harborview Medical Center where they are being treated today.
