A plan for Yakima Police officers to attend the Republican National Convention in Cleveland on Monday to help provide security has been cancelled. Police spokesman Mike Bastinelli says the city legal department was working on a document that spelled out what the officers would do and other details but apparently Yakima and Cleveland couldn't  come to an agreement. "We needed details about what our officers were supposed to do. What kind of protection would they have. Details we just couldn't work out."
Bastinelli says Yakima was one of the smaller departments that was planning on sending officers but now 6 officers, a Lt. and Sgt. will now be home watching the convention on TV like millions of other Americans.
