Yakima Police detectives are investigating two separate shootings Sunday in which four people were shot. The first shooting was reported at about 11 a.m. after police found an 18-year-old woman dead in a parked car near the intersection of South Third Street and Arlington Street. Police spokesman Mike Bastinelli says the woman's name has not been released and the details of what lead to her shooting have yet to be determined.
The second shooting was reported at about 12:50 p.m. Sunday in the 1400 block of Roosevelt Avenue and Bastinelli says the gang related drive-by shooting left three men with gunshot wounds. Two of those victims were taken to a Yakima hospital with serious injuries. Another suffered a non-life threatening wound. No arrests have been reported in either shooting.
The incidents are just days from Friday's fatal shooting of 27-year-old Carlos Guerrero who was found dead in a car in front of a home on North 4th Avenue. That shooting was reported at about 10:35 p.m. Friday and was just some six blocks east of Sunday's shooting. In that incident police say someone walked up to the car and fired at Guerrero.
Bastinelli says police continue to search for clues to lead them to arrests.
