A man who took hostages and was found dead Thursday night inside a Yakima home after police rescued a girl has been identified as a 36-year-old Travis Sregzinski from Pasco. Yakima Police spokesman Mike Bastinelli says it started when Sregzinski armed with a gun entered a home on Douglas Road in West Valley about 8 p.m., tied up a resident and forced one man to drive him around the West Valley area. When they stopped, the victim was able to escape. Sregzinski then broke into another house in the area of 65th and Freemont. He then took a girl hostage. Her father returned home, saw what was happening and called police. SWAT members from the Yakima Police Department arrived and after a long standoff they were able to rescue the girl. They later found Sregzinski inside the home dead from a self inflicted gunshot wound. Bastinelli says police are trying to figure out if there's any connection between the victims and the suspect. At this point he says there is no known connection.
