The name of a 14-year-old boy killed in a drive by shooting Monday hasn't yet been released. Police continue to investigate the shooting reported at about 11:25 a.m. at the corner of Cornell Avenue and West King Street. When police spokesman Mike Bastinelli first arrived on the scene Monday he told KIT News "just shortly before 11:30 we received a call about shots fired."
He says the teen was standing on the street corner at about 11:25 a.m. when someone in a car drove by and fired multiple shots. The 14-year-old was struck and fell on the sidewalk. He was taken to a Yakima hospital where he died.
It's the 6th homicide reported in the city of Yakima so far this year.
City officials are expected to hold a press conference later Today to address the ongoing violence.
