Yakima Police Conduct DRILL at City Hall Friday Night

The Yakima Police Department will be holding a drill at Yakima City hall this afternoon that will result in a massive police presence in downtown Yakima. Spokesman Mike Bastenelli says the department's Special Weapons and Tactics Team will respond to city hall in a mock hostage situation involving the Yakima City Council. "It's a drill but it's what we do to prepare for that incident that we hope will never happen." But he says if it does ever happen it's drills like Today's that help prepare officers for the real thing. Bastinelli says there will also be a lot of scanner traffic about the incident but it's only a drill that starts at 5:00 p.m. at Yakima City hall. It's expected to finish at 10:00 p.m.
