Yakima Police Chief Dominic Rizzi says he's against the city lifting the ban on marijuana sales within city limits. Rizzi says he's against the legalization on a statewide level and doesn't want it to be sold within city limits. The Yakima City Council tonight is expected to vote on lifting the pot sales ban. Rizzi tells KIT News. "I would hope they don't do that but if they do then the police department will do everything we can to keep the community safe." Rizzi believes marijuana is a gateway drug that should only be legal for medical purposes. The city council meets at 6:00 p.m. tonight at Yakima City Hall. The city of Yakima isn't alone in banning marijuana sales. A number of cities around the State have voted to ban sales even though the drug is legal in Washington State.
