The Yakima County Office of Emergency Management is on standby and ready to help if needed in Snohomish County after a deadly mudslide Saturday.

Office Manager Jim Hall tells KIT News, “No one office can do it all so yeah we’re on standby and ready to help. If they called we’d do everything we could and send the resources they need.”

Hall remembers the big landslide in the Nile in 2009 that destroyed a portion of State Route 410.

Ours was a landslide and in Snohomish it was a mudslide. But similar however ours didn’t reach the magnitude they’re dealing with up there.

Hall says compared to the Nile landslide this mudslide is a major disaster. He says it is the reason why the office along with other emergency offices around the state are either on standby or are helping in the search effort.
