Yakima Mayor Micah Cawley has announced his candidacy for the Yakima County Auditors Office. Cawley says he wants to bring new ideas and new technology to the office and he wants to increase young voter turnout in Yakima County, "I know that our youth, if you give them a reason and inspire them, as I've been able to do as a young elected leader, they're going to come and find their own voice, whatever that is."

Cawley says he's not using the office as a stepping stone to a higher office. Cawley has has a long list of endorsements including former Attorney General Rob McKenna. He was joined in the press conference today by the Mayors of Selah, Union Gap, Toppenish, Zillah and Sunnyside. The filing period starts the second week of may. So far, Cawley will face Rep. Charles Ross in the primary election.  Current Auditor Corky Holloway is retiring at the end of the year.
