Yakima Man Charged With Multiple Sex Crimes With a Child

kima

A 39-year-old Yakima man has been charged with multiple sex crimes after being arrested at his Yakima home last week. Travis Padgett is being held on $1 million bail. Prosecutors say Padgett started a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old boy and took advantage of being in a position of trust. According to court documents, Padgett was giving the child meth and having sex with the boy repeatedly. Yakima Police Capt. Rod Light says investigators said items found in Padgett’s basement alone were enough to put him in jail. Light would not say what investigators found but it did relate to Padgett’s alleged sex crimes.

Padgett on Wednesday was charged with third degree rape of a child, delivery of a controlled substance and communicating with a minor for immoral purposes. He is being held in the Yakima County Jail.
