Heroes step up when you least expect it. Luckily for some Yakima folks, a guy named Tyler Gutierrez stepped up Saturday.

The Yakima Herald-Republic reports that Gutierrez was headed back home to Union Gap when he noticed smoke coming from a home on 69th Avenue -- and he could hear the barks of some dogs trapped inside the house.

He did what heroes do: He kicked in the door and made sure the dogs got out.

When firefighters arrived, they quickly put out the fire, according to the YH-R, but if it hadn't been for Gutierrez, the dogs wouldn't have been long for this world.

This is how teamwork is done and this is how we live life to its fullest and love each other. If Gutierrez would have just minded his own business, those dogs would not be alive today! A true Yakima HERO!
