Robyn Van Der Merwe and Sierra Bryan competed in the Washington State High School Rodeo State Finals last weekend. Robyn qualified to represent Washington State at the National High School Finals in barrel racing, girls cutting and target shooting. Sierra qualified to go to Nationals in barrel racing.

After 20 rodeos during the past school year and a four day state final, Robyn ended as the Reserve Champion in barrel racing and girls cutting in Washington State and Sierra placed fourth in the state. Sierra also won the Reserve Rookie All Around award for this year.

East Valley High School is the only school in Washington State that has two qualifiers.

Robyn was also elected as the Student President of the organization for next year.

Both girls will be competing at Nationals from July 15 to July 21 in Rock Springs, Wyoming, against other top four contestants from the United States, Canada and Australia. There will be 1500 contestants competing for the title. They will also compete for $1.5 million in scholarships.
