Residents in East Yakima had a chance to tell city officials how they feel about police services and recent violence during a special forum Monday night at Together Church on North 4th Street in Yakima. The forum was held by Safe Yakima Valley. City Police Chief Dominic Rizzi, City Manager Cliff Moore, Yakima County Prosecutor Joe Brusic and Yakima City Council member Dulce Gutierrez heard from residents about how they view police and how police can help create safer neighborhoods. Many people were concerned about how police operate in East Yakima and some say they don't trust police. Residents from the area however say they're just as concerned about safety as other people in other parts of Yakima.
Police say they're working overtime to find suspects in the 7 unsolved homicides reported so far this year.
