Yakima firefighters doused flames in two fires reported Monday night and Tuesday morning. The first fire was reported just before 6:00 p.m. in the 2700 block of Fruitvale Blvd for a single wide mobile home fire. Fire officials say a neighbor spotted the fire and helped pull one person from the home.  Fire crews along with the help of officers from the Yakima Police Department removed the resident from the front of the house and moved him to an a waiting ambulance where he was transported to Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital with injuries caused by smoke inhalation.  Firefighters worked for about 20 minutes to extinguish the flames.  2 pets were able to escape the burning home uninjured. The Red Cross is assisting this family and the home is a total loss.
Then Tuesday morning firefighters were dispatched to a house fire at South 36th Avenue and Bonnie Doon. When they arrived they found a large amount of smoke and fire coming from the home as you can see in the video above. Fire crews had to rescue one man from the home. He was not injured. The man's son was able to escape the flames. An investigation is underway to determine the cause of both fires.
