The last Yakima Farmers' Market of the year will happen Sunday. Market Director Don Eastridge says sales figures are not yet available, but the market saw some growth this year when compared to 2011 growing by 40 vendors and expanding a block.

Eastridge says he hopes to see the market expand even more next year. Eastridge says there is no plan to move the market behind the Capitol Theatre.  However, he is working with city officials as plans for the new area come together. The new entertainment area will close 4th Street behind the Capital theater between Yakima Avenue and Chestnut Avenue. The closure is expected to happen next spring.

The market closes on Sunday and will reopen on Mother’s Day 2013.
