Yakima Duplex Fire Considered Suspicious

A fire did extensive damage to a house on the 1100 block of St. John St. overnight Friday night.

Around midnight, the Yakima Fire Department responded to a fire that had consumed a carport attached to a duplex. When firefighters arrive, the living quarters was being threatened.

The first responders were able to determine that all residents were out of the house. A total of 24 firefighters were at the scene.

The estimated damage total for the fire was $25,000 with one car completely destroyed.

Investigators have called the fire suspicious and are trying to determine if it is related to car fires in the area.
