Yakima Couple Says Thank You To Police Officers

A Yakima couple wanted to do something nice for Yakima Police officers before Christmas. So they contacted spokesman Mike Bastinelli and the retired couple dropped off an envelope with enough money to give each officer $5.00 for a cup of coffee. Bastinelli says the couple donated enough to allow him to purchase gift cards for the 140 officers who serve the City of Yakima. Bastinelli says it was a nice gesture that the officers say shows appreciation from the community. It's not the first time Yakima residents have stepped up to help officers. Earlier this year people dropped off baked goods and other items to show support when officers in other parts of the country had been shot during emergency situations.
