Officials from the Yakima County Health District are waiting on test results as three kids from Yakima are being treated for a respiratory illness at Seattle's Childrens' Hospital.

The health district's Diane Bock says they hope to learn this week what is making the kids sick and if that sickness is linked to an illness that is hit kids in a dozen states.

We don’t know if they have the strain we’re seeing in the Midwest. It’s a very unusual strain that we don’t see very often.

Bock says they expect test results today or Wednesday. She says medical professionals know little about the strain that's made hundreds of kids sick.

Bock tells parents, “If your child shows cold symptoms and has trouble breathing go immediately to the emergency room.”

Kids in 12 states are now suffering from the respiratory illness.
