Now that a hand recount in a primary election race is over the Yakima County Auditors office is now preparing for the November general election. Auditor Charles Ross says “we send out military ballots on September 23rd. All regular ballots go out on or before the 21st of October and election day is November 8.” And between now and when the 110,000 ballots are sent to voters Ross says they have a lot of work to do on the ballot itself. Preparing the ballot for the printer to make sure everything is correct for voters. The turnout for the primary was under 25 percent. Ross says he expects a much larger turnout for the November general election simply because of popularity of the presidential race.
