Yakima is in a holding pattern until April before it hears whether Alaska Airlines will grant a 4th flight out of the Yakima Airport. City Manager Tony O'Rourke and other city officials met on Tuesday with Alaska Air to ask for another flight between 5:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. O'Rourke says the airline wants to wait until April first to see how strong boarding numbers were from February and March. "The forecast numbers look good so we're confident about expanded service but we won't get a definitive answer until April." O'Rourke says he's hoping for the expansion this fall because this spring and summer they'll be doing taxiway work at the airport. And while he says the city would also like to see a flight to Portland the focus right now is getting that 4th flight from Seattle.
