Fireworks are banned in the city of Yakima and with the dry conditions firefighters say it was vital to saving homes and other property during the hot Fourth of July weekend.

Yakima city firefighters say they responded to several fireworks-related fires. No one was injured in the four Fourth of July fires, but fire officials say the risks are high because of the fire danger.
Firefighters responded to grass fires on South Second Avenue and Swan Avenue -- the fire on Swan avenue burned a garage and caused $2,000 in damage. A fire on North Sixth Street and East K Street  burned a 30-foot  Douglas fir tree and threatened a house. And fire crews responded to a large grass fire in the 6700 block of Lincoln, preventing the fire from spreading to homes and other property.

Firefighters say the danger isn't over as hot, dry conditions continue throughout the Yakima Valley.
