You won't be paying an extra 20 dollars for car tabs to pay for Yakima city street maintenance and repairs. That's because the Yakima city council voted last night 5-2 against the 20 dollar car tab increase. The council was considering the increase that would have raised a million dollars a year to repair and maintain city streets, but in the end Kathy Coffee and Maureen Adkison were the only council members who wanted to impose the fee on local drivers. The council did however vote to form a transportation benefit area. Now the council just needs to figure out where the money for street repairs and maintenance will come from in the future because city officials say city streets need work that can't be ignored.
