Yakima voters will not be weighing in on a super-majority tax proposal after the Yakima City Council voted against the idea during Tuesday's council meeting. The council on a 4-3 vote decided against passing the proposal on to voters later this year. A super-majority vote to raise taxes in the city, requires five of the seven council members to vote in favor of a tax increase for it to pass. It would have required a change in the city charter, the reason why the issue would have appeared on a ballot later this year.
