The Yakima City Council will see the newly re-engineered plaza design next Tuesday during a meeting at the Yakima Convention Center. City Economic Development Director Sean Hawkins says the re-engineered design has lowered the cost of the $12 to $14 million project."The rough target has been to save about $2 million so the new plan will bring it down to about a $10.8 million project."
He says that's been done through re-engineering certain parts of the project but not changing the actual design proposed for the main parking lot in downtown Yakima behind the Olive Garden restaurant. The council is expected to view the new engineering work and possibly vote on the future of the project.
