As residents continue to recover from recent flooding, the Yakima City Council is expected to approve a resolution Tuesday declaring a city emergency because of the high water.

The action also ratifies the Mayoral Declaration of Emergency signed on March 10.

The resolution in front of the council Tuesday says the city is in need of economic assistance from the state or federal government to help people and businesses recover. The council meets at 6 p.m. at Yakima City Hall, 129 N. Second St.
