“Should the city of Yakima construct a community plaza on City Parking Lot No. 2 directly west of The Capital Theatre?” That's the question that Yakima City voters may see on a ballot in November of this year. The Yakima City Council on Tuesday will once again talk about the Downtown Central Plaza. Two items on the agenda. One item would allow city staff to continue moving forward with construction and the other asks the council to approve the language to be placed on the ballot.
In June the city voted 4-3 to place the issue on the ballot after hearing from opponents who threatened a lawsuit if the city moved forward with plans to construct the plaza before a public vote. The council meets at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday at Yakima City Hall.
