The Yakima City Council Tuesday addressed two big agenda items and declined to take action on both issues. The first was a discussion and possible vote on a inclusive policing ordinance barring officers from asking about immigration status. About two dozen people showed up to talk about the proposed policy and let the council know how they feel but in the end the council decided not to vote or further discuss the issue. City officials say they'll discuss a new proposal in the near future.
The other big issue on the agenda was a proposed $19 increase in car tabs to pay for street and sidewalk projects. That issue failed after it was brought up by a motion but no council member seconded the issue. No word on how the city will pay for the projects in the future.
