No new cell phone towers or billboards can be built in Yakima for the next 6 months. The Yakima City Council Tuesday imposed a 6 month moratorium after hearing from residents in the Barge Chestnut neighborhood. Residents are concerned that a large cell tower is planned for 16th and Yakima Avenues. They say the tower does not fit in the area. The moratorium is designed to give city staff time to review and revise the codes that govern cell phone towers and billboards in the city of Yakima.
