Officials with The Yakima Central Plaza committee say they're at 88% of a goal of reaching $9 million in private pledges in this final month of fundraising. A press release from the committee says recent pledges have increased the total amount of private funding to over $7.56 million, from more than 282 donors, companies and organizations in the Yakima region. With the City of Yakima commitment of $3 million, committee officials say they have $1.36 million remaining to raise by the end of the month.

In November, the committee received just under $1 million in pledges, with about $83,000 received on Giving Tuesday alone. The November total includes donations from organizations like the Downtown Association of Yakima (DAY), and The Kiwanis Club of Yakima.

The Kiwanis Club of Yakima, along with the Yakima Kiwanis Charitable Trust Foundation, has pledged $75,000 to the Yakima Central Plaza Project.
