A Yakima fruit company has agreed to match an investment by the city to renovate and improve the city PAL center or Police Athletic League facility at Miller Park. City Manager Tony O'Rourke says Washington Fruit and Produce has agreed to spend $250,000. That money will be matched by the city for a $500,000 investment. "They'll be assisting with upgrading the YPAL site but we're also talking to other parties about new facilities at that site." O'Rourke says the city is also working with the Head Start program which would like to see a seperate facility at Miller Park. And he says the city is also talking to another private party to develop pre school opportunities at the YPAL center. The city council is expected to approve the partnership with Washington Fruit and Produce during its meeting at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday at Yakima City hall. The city and Washington Fruit and Produce have been working on this relationship and agreement since early last year.
