Two Washington Wineries Sold To World’s Largest Winery
Washington state is second in premium wine production, just a short distance behind California with more than 740 bonded wineries and 43,000 acres of grapes. The worlds largest privately owned winery, E. & J. Gallo, has purchased Columbia Winery in Woodinville and Covey Run Winery in Sunnyside. The purchase from Ascentia Wine Estates was on June 4.
The Gallo winery was founded in Modesto, California, in 1933. The company brands include Gallo family vineyards, and Barefoot Cellars.
