When your our alarm goes off on Monday morning, and all you want to do is go back to sleep, you’ll be in good company. A new study from Oxford University reveals the 9-to-5 schedule poses a "serious threat" to performance, mood and mental health.

I knew it!

Study leaders say we have a compromised a lot of “natural schedules”.  Dr. Paul Kelley, says the average 10-year-old cannot start focusing on academic work properly before 8:30 AM, and that college-age students can't focus properly before 11 AM.

Kelley explains that the circadian rhythms of adults don't sync to the 9-to-5 schedule until age 55, and that starting your day too early is "hugely damaging on the body's systems because you are affecting physical, emotional and performance systems in the body."  Attention all you early morning radio hosts – time to put in for dangerous duty pay!

Kelley adds, "We cannot change out 24-hour rhythms. You cannot learn to get up at a certain time. Your body will be attuned to sunlight and you're not conscious of it because it reports to the hypothalamus, not sight... Sleep deprivation is a torture."

Lance and I agree, since we are tortured by having to get up so early, it’s only fair that you be tortured when listening to the Morning News! See you bright? and early!
