Woman Killed As She Was Crossing Yakima Street

A 96-year-old woman died Tuesday after being struck by a vehicle as she was crossing the street in the 400 block of North 56th Avenue. Yakima Police say it happened at about 5:30 p.m. when a 75-year-old man driving a pickup truck struck the woman who has not been identified. Authorities say the woman was wearing dark clothing which made it difficult to see her as she was walking across the street. No charges have been filed at this time. Police say both the driver and the victim are from Yakima.
