Woman Assaulted At Naches Avenue Apartment Suspect Arrested

Yakima Police say a 32-year-old woman is recovering at a Yakima hospital Today after being assaulted at her apartment on Naches Avenue early Sunday morning. They say she was assaulted by a 49-year-old transient man who she had known for about 6 weeks. Police say the attack happened at about 1:00 a.m. Monday after the suspect returned from the store. After the attack the man broke windows in the home before running away. But people in the area grabbed the man and held him until police arrived. The suspect is being held in the Yakima County Jail on an assault charge.
