My family and I visited the Yakima Farmer's Market for the first time this year on Sunday, and even though it's getting hot, this is the best time to take in the market.

It is prime time for produce at the Yakima Farmer's Market. The stalls are overflowing with every kind of vegetable that the Yakima Valley is famous for, from sweet corn to tomatoes to hot peppers. Also, the summer fruits are at their peak. Cherries are just about gone, but apricots, peaches, nectarines and the first apples are flashing their colors , along with blueberries, strawberries and raspberries.

The Market also has a wide variety of merchandise vendors and specialty food stalls.

That just scratches the surface of what the market has to offer each week. But for right now, it may be the best time of year to meet your friends and neighbors at the Yakima Farmer's  Market. The market takes place on South Third Street in downtown Yakima every Sunday from 9 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. through October.
